Rugby competition heating up

Coffs Rugby are looking for an even bigger season in 2010 with the re-introduction of a reserves team. RICHARD Officer believes that the introduction of two new reserve-grade teams in Coffs Harbour is set to make a day at the rugby in 2010 even more enjoyable.

Training has started
Training for the 2010 season is every Thursday from the 28th January. For the months of Jan and Feb training will be held on Jetty Beach (545-7pm). Meet under the jetty and bring your joggers and towel. Dont forget Coffs Rugby have entered two first grade, reserve grade and under 19's this year so we need everyone down there to have a game of touch and to start getting fit.Training will recommence at Rugby park each Tuesday and Thursday from the first week in March.

Rugby Legend Retires
Coffs Harbours classy former NSW Country representative centre, Kevin Simpson, has stunned rugby union circles by announcing an immediate retirement from the game after taking ill following the Crushers 31-5 defeat of Port Pirates on Saturday.
Simpson was named player of the match following a superb midfield defensive display against last years Upper Mid North Coast premiers only to require hospitalisation upon returning to his home.

Australia day 20/20 game - Forwards V Backs
Coffs Rugby will be holding a forum at 10:00am Monday 26th of January at McLean Street Oval to discuss the future of Coffs rugby in 2009. After this short meeting the club will be holding the annual forwards v backs cricket match.

TRIAL GAME
A trial game will be held against Alstonville/Wollongbar on Saturday 28th March at Park Beach Plaza Rugby Park, Hogbin Drive, Coffs Harbour. It will be first grade and u/19s too.

Pre season trials
We have entered sides into the Crescent Head 7s tournament which will be held on Saturday 14th February,and either the Forster 10s on Saturday 7th March or the Armidale 15s on Saturday/Sunday the 14th & 15th March.
We are well down the track of organising trials against Grafton, Wollongbar/Alstonville & Armidale clubs.
The MNCRU Season will commence on the 28th March at Rugby Park. See the draw and results section for the entire draw.

Coffs Rugby Training
During January, training will take place every Thursday at Jetty beach under the jetty (530- 7pm). All players and supporters welcome.
February - training will be Tuesday and Thursday at Rugby Park (6-730).
March - training will be Tuesday and Thursday (6-730) at the rugby club on Hogbin drive.
