THEY may come from the same football club, but that will be forgotten this afternoon when the Coffs Crushers and Coffs Breakers renew hostilities at Coffs Coast Advocate Rugby Park. It wasnt long ago these two met in a spiteful clash that saw a plethora of yellow cards and warnings to players from match officials, and the memories from that encounter are still fresh in a lot of players minds. The Crushers will go into this afternoons fixture as favourites. Two wins from the past two clashes against the Breakers will give the Crushers plenty of confidence as will their impressive victory a week ago against Hastings Valley Vikings to jump into second position on the MNC Rugby table. The Breakers will be keen for a win to seal a finals berth. Breakers captain-coach Dylan Hurley stressed to the team through the week a loss wouldnt be a tragedy as the team would stay in fourth position. That doesnt mean Hurley is approaching the game with a less than desperate attitude though as he along with the squad are sick of losing tight battles to their intra-club rival. Hurley is confident of victory, but so is his Crushers counterpart Craig Landrigan. The Crushers have again made several positional changes this week. Irish second-rower James Donnelly has been dropped to reserve grade to make way for the young Chris Tonks. Landrigan has also dropped regular wingers Matt Quirk and Josh Brooks to make way for Rod Deighton at fullback and the experienced Bert Gray at outside centre who made his season debut last week after switching from league. Hurley has tinkered with the Breakers line-up as well. The Breakers welcome back Leith Vaughan at scrum half which will allow Hurley to move back to his preferred spot at inside centre.
