| CAPTAIN-coach Dylan Hurley needs no reminding how important it is to the whole of Coffs Rugby Club that his Breakers beat Hastings Valley today.
But he still cant resist pulling the legs of his Crushers stablemates as they prepare to take on South West Rocks in todays double-header at Coffs Coast Advocate Rugby Park.
Do you reckon we should run dead and get beat, just to p*** them off? he asked mischievously.
Seriously, this is a mighty big game for us and a great opportunity to see where were at on the eve of the semis.
Its the very best team that we can field right now and Im looking for the boys to put in a huge effort.
Hurley is bubbling at the news multi-skilled Leith Vaughan is available for selection delivering a cover note for most positions in the backline.
Hes a hard bloke to get hold of but promises hell be around for the next five weeks and thats going to come in handy if somebody is unavailable or we need something extra, Hurley said.
Youth will play a bit part in the Breakers fortunes today with a large under-19 contingent set to warm the reserves bench.
The Vikings have got a big pack so well need to play the patience game, the coach predicted.
Give ourselves time to settle into the game then look for every opportunity to run those big Hastings blokes around and tire them out.
Thats when the kids can come on and run right over.
We like to pile on the points and be the front-runners as its not much fun doing the chasing.
Crushers will play on the undercard against the Rocks and will rely heavily on the Breakers taking the spoils of victory.
Hastings go into todays round four points ahead on the premiership table and with one round to follow, if Breakers can win, Crushers can move up ahead.
If all calculations go to plan, Breakers can even make third spot should Hastings lose both games and receive no bonus points.
Only a miracle intervention like an earthquake will stop Crushers accounting for the Gaolers, although they will be without big guns Kikau, Vatuvili, Riddle and Officer who led them around the field in their inspiring defeat of Pirates last weekend.
